That resulted in a financial loss of RS. 10 thousand crore to the govt. but the biggest mistake of the govt is that they told the oil companies that they also reduced 1 rupee, it was a hasty decision. when we first brought the policy of free price of petrol, the market would now decide what would be the rate of petrol and diesel, the govt ended that reform in one stroke. when the Announcement was done, the govt has told the oil companies to reduced one rupee.
